Day One

Wow! Today has been busy and it is only 1 o'clock! I had an exam in my 8 a.m. class and classes the rest of the day until 3:30 then off to work until 10 p.m. I'm on a break right now and I used it to do my daily work out and I am going to head to Target to buy the movie UP which I am really looking forward to watching!

My workout today was great! Except that I had to share the gym with a guy who was already watching sports. :( I did ten mins of cardio on the elliptical machine, very low impact, just enough to get my heart pumping. I hope to be able boost my work on the elliptical as I move forward. There are so many cool settings on the machine including "glute kicker" and "arm blaster". Once I get a bit further into my routine I will defiantly be taking advantage of these features. After my cardio I did some quick stretching. For my 10 min arms I did some basic lifting with 5 lbs weights. I just used stuff I remember from high school. Hopefully as I continue I will be able to research and find some great lifts to build up muscles.

For lunch today I had a chicken breast grilled on the George (I used about a tbls of ranch to add some flavor), rice mixed with mixed vegetables (a steamfresh frozen product) and some tea to curb my sweet tooth. The rice wasn't the best choice but it was in my freezer so I thought I should get rid of it. I also had some slices of colby jack cheese as a snack.

After my workout today I wanted to add two more goals:
Goal #11: Post at least once a week a new recipe I tried,a new exercise I learned, or a new product I used that week.
Goal #12: I can't remember the second one right now, I'll post it as soon as I recall it!

I will also soon be posting some "before" photos. I think it will be fun to watch the transformation that small changes in your life style can make to your body.

On a completly unrelated note: I AM SO EXCITED FOR THANKSGIVING!

Starting Up!

Well Hello!
Its been 10 days since the wedding!! Most everything is back to normal...school, work, etc. Now that my schedule has slowed waaaaay down I have decided to start a fitness regimen to get back into tip top shape! So in this blog we will follow my progress including my workouts and diet choices. The goal of this diet is definatly not to lose any weight, but to get toned and improve my fitness level. All my workouts will take place in the gym in my apartment building, nothing fancy. So goals...

Goal #1: Tone thighs, butt, and upper arms.
Goal #2: Build abs and eliminate the small love handles I have.
Goal #3: Increase my cardio length weekly.
Goal #4: Incorporate protein into my daily diet.
Goal #5: Lower my daily carb intake.
Goal #6: Increase my daily water intake to 8-8oz. servings.
Goal #7: Practice nightly relaxation methods: meditation, prayer, or yoga positions.
Goal #8: Decrease sugar intake and find alternate healthy options to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Goal #9: Lower my body fat percentage and replace fat with muscle.
Goal #10: Read! I want to start reading leisurly, not just text books.

I will also take my weight daily, and I will try to do it around the same time. My super cool scale measures my weight and body fat percentage so I will list both.

My routine will consist of daily workouts that will change both daily and weekly. I will exersice 5 days a week and take off weekends. My cardio will slowly increase each week and I will work my goal areas each day of the week. All my cardio will be done either on the stationary bike or the eliptical machine. Treadmills are too hard on my legs.

I have not worked out in a very very very long time so I am going to move into this slowly but surely. This weeks routine will be as follows:
Tuesday- 10 mins cardio & 15 min arms using light weights
Wednesday-10 mins cardio & 15 min leg work
Thursday- 10 min cardio & 15 min abs
Friday-10 min cardio & 15 min butt work

I will take my weight first thing in the morning & post!
